Evaluating Primary SourcesThe Internet is an amazing, and powerful tool for educators and students of all ages. The limitless possibilities of what it can do for education is yet to be seen. Federal agencies have wonderful resources available online for educators and students. From history to science, primary and secondary sources from these agencies have been incorporated into the websites, providing a rich resource to supplement your curriculum. But there is a lot of information on the website that is questionable and should be properly evaluated for accuracy. This workshop teaches the tools necessary for evaluating and analyzing documents. Through hands on activities, workshop participants will analyze photographs, text documents, sound recordings, motion pictures, and maps utilizing resources from the Library of Congress' American Memory collections and the National Archives and Records Administration. A one computer classroom, with projector, and speakers is required. Several tables will be used as groups participate in activities.
